Weather Policy:

  • Unless notified otherwise, it would be best to assume the session is still on in wet weather.
  • On questionable weather days (i.e., rain/heat), you will receive a notification via SMS or email one hour before the scheduled session to advise cancellation.
  • Hot weather, i.e. temperature 36°C or above at the nearest weather station, may be cancelled up to one hour before the start of the session.
  • State Soccer will offer make-up sessions if any sessions get cancelled due to weather.
  • Makeup Opportunities: We understand the inconvenience cancellations can cause and have structured our program to offer numerous makeup opportunities. This ensures that all participants can attend an alternative session that fits their schedule without the need for additional makeup days, which could complicate the overall program schedule.
  • Weather Increments: It's important to note that our choice to hold sessions outdoors enhances the experience but also introduces variability due to weather. This decision is made with the best interests of our participants in mind, aiming to provide an enriching environment that utilises the benefits of outdoor activity.

Learning Environment:

  • To ensure a safe and appropriate learning environment for our students, we must keep other children (e.g. brother, sister, friends etc.) who would like to ‘play’ away from our designated area and nearby surroundings. This enhances soccer students' learning and prevents them or their friends from getting injured.
  • State Soccer is only responsible for students who arrive at our designated area once they have signed in the register and until they sign out on departure from the same place.
  • State Soccer reserves the right to remove anyone found to be bullying, misbehaving, or displaying disruptive behaviour from our program without a refund.

Equipment & Uniform:

  • Boots and shin pads are recommended for children over six years old.
  • We recommend boots and shin pads for all age groups in slippery conditions.
  • The parent/guardian is responsible for ensuring that children arrive with sunscreen and sun hat as required.
  • The parent/guardian is responsible for ensuring that children attend sessions with a water bottle.
  • State Soccer-branded t-shirts are available for $30 each. Please speak to one of our coaches for further information.

FAQs: Ensuring Your Child's Safety at Soccer Camp

How does the camp manage during hot weather conditions?

The safety of the children is our paramount concern. During warmer periods, we increase the frequency of shaded breaks, moderate the intensity of activities, and provide regular hydration reminders. We also have set times for the re-application of sunscreen and may introduce some water-based activities to ensure the kids remain cool.

If it rains, will the camp proceed?

Indeed, the camp runs irrespective of rain. Should the council deem it necessary to close the pitch, we'll inform you promptly. If you don’t hear from us, the camp will proceed as scheduled.

What if my child becomes wet?

Please ensure your child is appropriately dressed for potential wet weather or include a spare change of clothes in their bag. Rest assured, we have covered areas, and our staff are well-prepared to keep the children engaged if rain occurs.

Can I receive a refund if we opt not to attend?

As a general policy, we don’t provide refunds for non-attendance. However, we assess situations on a case-by-case basis.

When and where should I sign in/out my child?

We conduct daily registration. Please sign in at 8 am if you've chosen the Early Drop Off, or between 8:30 am to 9 am. Sign out is at 3 pm, with a provision for a Late Pickup at 4 pm.

What should my child bring along?

Ensure they have their soccer boots or trainers, suitable attire, a hat, sunscreen (this is mandatory), lunch, snacks, and two water bottles—all labelled clearly. Kindly note there's no food sharing unless it's with a sibling.

Is it mandatory for children to wear a hat during activities?

Yes, hats are crucial for the safety and well-being of all participants. Due to the intense Australian sun, we have a strict 'No Hat, No Play' policy. If a child chooses not to wear a hat, they cannot participate in outdoor activities for their own protection. We kindly urge all parents to ensure their child comes equipped with a hat, emphasising its importance for their child's safety. If forgotten, State Soccer hats are available for purchase on site.

Why two water bottles?

It’s essential for hydration, especially on warmer days. One bottle can be used for regular sips, and the other acts as a reserve.

My child forgot their hat; can we purchase one?

Absolutely. We have State Soccer hats available for purchase on-site at $15 each.
